Our Wines
Grape-growing has been part of our family’s history for five generations, originating in Germany and now, with our family, in Niagara.
Through meticulous caretaking and vineyard management, our grapes are sourced from four special vineyards across Niagara, two are the family’s farms and the other two, the family manages.
Our wines are then crafted in collaboration between Jessica, a recent BSC (Honours) in Oenology and Viticulture graduate from the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute at Brock University, and the winemaking team at Collab Wine & Beverage. Our bottles are the result of a family of grape growers and their farming friends’ passion and excitement for local Ontario grapes.
2022 Riesling
Lingard Vineyard, St. David’s Bench, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Our Riesling grapes are sourced from the Lingard Vineyard on the St. David’s Bench, a small eight-acre vineyard – vineyards located here benefit from slightly warmer temperatures in spring and a cooler ripening season resulting in robust and flavourful wines. Harvested the morning of September 22nd from vines that are 15+ years old, this Riesling is full of the traditional apple, citrus and tropical notes with nice acidity for a balanced mouth-feel.
$1.00 CDN from every bottle of Liebling Wines’ Riesling will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region.

2022 Sauvignon Blanc
Andrews Vineyard, Four Mile Creek, Niagara-on-the-Lake
From vines planted in 2012, our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown on Tim and Sandra’s vineyard located in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation. Harvested in the early morning of September 11th, the grapes were picked and pressed while still cool to fully capture the fresh aromatics and traditional flavours, this Sauvignon Blanc was then fermented and settled in stainless steel for six-months before bottling. This fresh wine has notes of honeydew and lemongrass on the nose and a full-mouth feel with tropical flavours and lively acidity.

2022 Gamay
Creek Road Vineyard, Four Mile Creek, Niagara-on-the-lake
This is a special vineyard for the Oppenlaender children as it is one that we all witnessed being planted in 1996, have all worked on, and now are able to produce a wine that we’re super proud to share with others. Our 2022 Gamay was picked the morning of October 12th, underwent a gentle winemaking process, and aged for nine months in French oak barrels. Medium ruby in colour, notes of cherry, raspberry and vanilla. Medium weight with light acidity, youthful tannins and a smooth finish.

2022 Cabernet Franc
Oppenlaender Vineyard, Four Mile Creek, Niagara-on-the-lake
It was very important for us to source grapes from our home vineyard on Line 3 in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This small parcel of land has been our family’s home for almost twenty years and has been the backdrop of many family celebrations. The 2022 Cabernet Franc was harvested on November 4th, 2022, using an Opti-Sorter harvester that destems and sorts the fruit. After delivering the berries to the winery, the grapes were lightly crushed and fermented in bins. Punchdowns were carried out daily until pressing, after spending three weeks in contact with the grape skins and seeds. The wine was aged for 20 months in a mix of new and used French oak barrels (five barrels) before blending and bottling. This is a medium-bodied Cabernet Franc with notes of raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and pepper.

2022 Family Select Cabernet Franc
Oppenlaender Vineyard, Four Mile Creek, Niagara-on-the-lake
A happy surprise! The 2022 Family Select Cabernet Franc received the same care as our white-label Cabernet Franc, with the only difference being the barrel that it was aged in. Little did we know that this single barrel, which had been used just once before, would create such a distinctive character compared to the others. The difference was so remarkable that we decided to bottle this wine separately as our Family Select. This Cabernet Franc is concentrated in flavour, with notes of ripe berries, floral, savoury undertones, and plush tannins. Only 18 cases produced.
